Hi Raymond here - I was a social media marketing intern and this is my story working in ZALORA Singapore!

What motivated you to apply to ZALORA?
I’ve always been interested in social media and fashion, and I felt that being a ZALORA was sort of the perfect blend of my interests. So when I saw an opening on ZALORA’s Linkedin, I jumped at the chance to apply!

What does a day in life at ZALORA entail?
My day in ZALORA is all about coming up with ideas for upcoming videos or graphics, planning and executing them. It’s a lot of creative work that involves planning ahead and working with people from different countries and regions; like Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Philippines and Malaysia.

How do you find meaning and fulfillment in your work?
I always challenge myself to innovate and create products outside my comfort zone. Whenever I manage to transform my visions into reality, like those super creative reels you see on instagram or tiktok, I feel immense satisfaction.

What do you like most about being part of the team at ZALORA?
ZALORA has given me the opportunity to connect with people I’d probably never meet in my normal life. Though I’ve travelled the world and met all sorts of people before ZALORA, just being in this role has introduced me to a new world of people of different personalities, backgrounds, cultures, and expanded my worldview even more!

People in ZALORA are also very approachable and I’ve met many friendly people here. I’ve also had the chance to plan and participate in activities that I never thought I would be able to do, and I’ve learnt so much from it!

How does ZALORA provide flexibility in your work?
ZALORA is very supportive of us working from home. For me, this allows me to focus on work with less distractions, and lets me choose when I want to take a break. I am empowered to maximize my productivity in a way that works best for me.

With hybrid working, I also have the freedom to return to the office when I want to. Sometimes it's just easier to communicate ideas and demonstrate my creative side in person with my colleagues.

What is a memorable experience you’ve had at ZALORA?
Definitely many, many memorable experiences! 

ZALORA plans many volunteering opportunities to give back to the community throughout the year. My favourite memory there was playing with dogs at the animal shelter, and cleaning out the kennels. It gave me an eye-opening look into the work of social workers and made me more understanding and aware of the need for social services in our community.

Another memorable experience was hosting ZALORA’s year end party, which was a blast! Besides all the fun and games, it also taught me how to be adaptable and resilient in planning and executing an event alongside people from across departments.
