Hi! I’m Wei Ting - I was a Brand Partnerships Intern with the ZALORA Advertising Platform (ZAP) services team! This is my experience working in ZALORA Singapore! :)

Tell us more about yourself!
I’m a student at Singapore Management University, and I’m interested in everything e-commerce, fashion, beauty, and tech!

How did you find out about the internship at ZALORA?
I was searching for summer internships when I came across the job posting on LinkedIn. It stood out because it's a combination of all my interests!

What motivated you to apply to ZALORA? 
A friend of mine who had done an internship in ZALORA told me about her very positive experience working there, this made me motivated to apply.

Could you share what a Brand Partnerships Internship is like?
Sure! Like the name implies, Brand Partnership interns work closely with brands to make sure their ad campaigns run smoothly. 

This process involves a couple of steps including understanding what brands want out of their campaigns, managing any in-bound marketing inquiries brands might have, scheduling their ad packages, and approving any sponsored ads that will be going live on ZALORA. To add-value to these campaigns, we also deep dive into ways to increase ROAS for brands for sponsored ads. Although it gets a little hectic leading up to mega campaigns, I can feel the excitement and energy that comes with the shopping and sales season!

I also got to collaborate with cross-functional teams across borders, with people from Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, and Indonesia to name a few. It’s such a diverse office with even more diverse people!

How would you describe the work environment in ZALORA?
It’s fun, lively, and people-centered! I’ve met lots of friendly and helpful colleagues here. Everyone is approachable and I know they are always willing to help.

I really love the engagement activities held by ZALORA, there are loads of opportunities to take a breather from work and meet new colleagues from across departments while having fun! We had mental wellness events, volunteered at an animal shelter, held parties, and so much more!

Do you like the work flexibility in ZALORA?
Of course! The hybrid working policy in ZALORA has been really flexible, we can work from anywhere I want that works best for us! Sometimes, if I really want to, I can even choose to go back to the office during my remote working days to work together with my friends (I’ve made so many friends here)!

What is the team like in ZALORA?
I love working with the diverse people in ZALORA’s regional office! It’s exciting to meet so many diverse people and be part of all the activities like the mega sales periods; its when the office really comes alive!

My team is also really supportive and I love that! They’re always there to back me up whenever I face obstacles and guide me to learn. Thanks to their incredible support, I even got the chance and confidence to conduct my first-ever webinar to run a training session for onboarding brands!

How else has ZALORA supported your growth?
Besides the invaluable insights into e-commerce; from the technical and operational aspects of regional supply chains to the broader fashion and lifestyle industry, I’ve learnt to effectively communicate across functions and within a diverse workplace, understand campaigns and ads management, and the use of data visualization to gather valuable insights using the relevant ad metrics. It might sound like a lot, but with the team supporting me each step of the way, picking up all these skills was definitely enjoyable!

What is a memorable experience you’ve had at ZALORA?
My manager has conducted several training sessions with me, to build my confidence in hosting my first-ever webinar for new sellers. I truly appreciate his effort and patience in mentoring us. I’m also grateful to my team for their guidance and support, which helped me successfully lead the webinar.

What advice would you give to a new intern in ZALORA?
Make the most of your experience here! You’ll have a supportive team to rely on and a workplace where you’ll build lasting connections. Come with an open, positive mindset, and you’ll leave with valuable takeaways!
